CacheGuard is a Linux-based OS/appliance dedicated to Web traffic security and optimization. It transforms an x86-based machine into a powerful Web gateway appliance. It allows you to control Web traffic for Web surfers and Web servers by acting as a forwarding and reverse HTTP / HTTPS proxy. It supports HTTP transparent implementation, HTTP compression, Web caching, URL black- and whitelist guarding, and Web server load balancing. It features a stateful firewall with NAT and PAT, and a content filtering module blocking malicious HTTP requests like XSS, SQL and Command Injection. It integrates a caching DNS, a DHCP server, a bandwidth shaper to manage the QoS, a load sharing system, and an HA (high availability) mode with VRRP and link bonding.

Changes:
The bug in the Health Checking module that inadvertently restarted services has been fixed. Now the "rweb" mode is turned off by default. An option to cancel the running "apply" operation has been added. The patching module has been completely reviewed. The Web Auditing GUI has been enhanced. Generic content filtering rules have been updated. The reverse Web auditing GUI properly displays all warning messages. The reverse Web mode works properly even if there is only one declared HTTP Web site name. The reverse Web mode works properly even if there is no DNS declared.

Didn’t Microsoft kill Netscape? Maybe they have forgotten about numerous lawsuits regarding their monopoly stance. Apparently, both Symantec and McAfee has taken direct stock hits with Microsoft’s announcement on their security freebie called Morro.

Both the stocks of Symantec and McAfee has taken a nosedive in anticipation of declining sales following the freebie offering from Microsoft. Microsoft Live OneCare was probably a freebie as well but maybe Microsoft didn’t want to nudge anyone in the business; but now, they just don’t care.

In an excerpt: Following Microsoft’s announcement, Symantec and McAfee stocks took a nosedive Wednesday over concerns that the software giant would take a significant portion of their market share in the PC security space. Symantec shares fell 9.44 percent to $11.23, while McAfee’s dropped 6.62 percent to $26.68. However, Microsoft also fell 6 percent at $18.45

Some security companies maintain that Microsoft’s announcement is a sign of capitulation and an attempt to edge into a market dominated by established security vendors. McAfee said that OneCare, Microsoft’s consumer online security solution, captured less than 2 percent of the market since it was released two years ago, according to Reuters.

Microsoft, however, contends that it is not undermining either Symantec’s nor McAfee’s marketshare due to the fact that its new free download only provides protection against malware — a term referring mainly to online threats such as Trojans, spyware and other forms of malicious code.

In an ironic twist, I was browsing about a security package I was planning to buy for my new Lenovo S10, but after learning about the freebie, I decided to wait for it instead. I together with thousands of would be consumers of Symantec and McAfee might decide to wait which would contribute in their stock nosedive.

Built on the award-winning ESET NOD32® Antivirus and its powerful ThreatSense® engine, ESET Smart Security provides antispyware, antispam and customized firewall features. Utilizing ThreatSense — the industry's most advanced heuristics — the window of vulnerability between virus outbreak and signature update is reduced.

The key advantage of this approach is that individual protection modules are able to communicate together seamlessly, to create unparalleled synergy to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of protection. Moreover, the integrated architecture guarantees optimal utilization of system resources, so ESET Smart Security continues ESET's well know reputation for providing rock solid security in a small footprint that will not slow down an individual's computer.

ESET Smart Security provides:
* Proactive Protection: award winning ThreatSense technology combines multiple layers of detection protecting you from Internet threats before it is too late. The included antispam and personal firewall features provide you with a total security solution.
* Precise Detection: ESET accurately identifies known and unknown threats. It consistently wins top awards from testing labs and is recognized for having zero false positives.
* Lightweight Design: Smart Security requires less memory and CPU power, allowing your computer to run fast, making more room for games, web browsing, and emailing.
* Fast Scanning Speeds: ESET Smart Security is a highly efficient program ensuring fast file scanning and product updates, while running quietly in the background.

ESET Smart Security is a new product designed to provide comprehensive protection against a variety of threats. It features the following:
• The next version of ESET's anti-malware engine with comprehensive protection against adware, rootkits, spyware, Trojan horses, viruses, worms and other types of malicious software
• A personal firewall with port stealthing and advanced filtering features
• An antispam filter with Bayesian filtering, whitelisting and blacklisting.

ESET NOD32 Antivirus + Antispyware
• This component is in fact an improved version of the award-winning scanning engine of NOD32 Antivirus v2.7. With respect to program's unprecedented scanning speed, the following improvements have been made:
• Improved system of cleaning and deleting infiltrations. The antivirus system now intelligently cleans and deletes infiltrations with no need for user interaction.
• Computer scan can be run in background in order to use only a part of system resources. Thus scanning will not affect the
performance of your computer and you will be able to work on it as usual.
• The resident protection supports archive scanning.
• Update optimization, smaller update package size than in version 2.7, more effective management and protection of update files against damage.
• Email protection for users of Outlook Express.

ESET Personal Firewall
• Firewall monitors all traffic between a protected computer and other computers in the local network and in the Internet. High quality protection is provided by the following functions:
• Scanning of application protocols HTTP and POP3 (used for Internet browsing and for retrieving email from servers) for infiltrations.
• Checking low-level network communication which helps to avoid many of various remote attacks.
• Ability to recognize the character of network connections established by various types of infiltrations and ability to automatically terminate them.
• Filtering of incoming and outgoing communication based on user defined rules.
• Monitoring changes in executable files.
• Interactive and automatic mode. The former enables you to create your own filtering rules, the latter filters all communication automatically.

ESET Anti Spam
• ESET Anti Spam serves to filter unsolicited email, which makes your work with email more effective. The key features of the ESET Anti Spam are:
• Support for the RCF email format
• Supports several scanning techniques including the combination of Bayesian filter, virus signatures and user defined rules.
• Supports the creation of Blacklist and Whitelist.
• Integration with the Microsoft Outlook messaging and collaboration client.
• Ability to control multiple messages simultaneously.

Download Links
Download Link: Depositfiles (Only these country please: US, DE, ES, UK, FR, RU, IT, CA, PT, NL, BE)
Click to Download from DepositFiles

Download Link: Uploading.com (Only these country please: US, DE, ES, UK, FR, RU, UA IT, CA, NL, AT, CZ)
Click to Download from Uploading.com

Download Link for other Countries:
Other countries download it from Easy-Share.

HomePage: http://www.eset.com/

Mac users are being warned to beware of a new scam by hackers to plant a Trojan horse. RS.Plug.D is a more flexible update of the RS.Plug.A threat discovered in 2007, a security software vendor claimed Tuesday.

Like the original, the new version relies on Mac users to visit malicious porn sites, according to Intego. Unlike RS.Plug.A, this trojan software opens a security hole enabling hackers to repeatedly download files to your system.

When on a suspect porn site, visits will be shown an error message: “Video ActiveX Object Error,” followed by a message that the browser is unable to view the video file and a request to start a download.

ActiveX is usually linked to Windows-related files, not Macs. Despite that, the Web page downloads a file (often named “cleanlive.dmg”) from a remote site. Once downloaded, the file automatically launches a trojan that contacts the remote site again.

To avoid downloading the Trojan file, you must quit your browser, according to the company. Simply choosing “Cancel” returns you to the original “error” message.

Mac users can disable the Trojan by using an anti-virus application.

This is an overview of the most common tools used in Spyware Doctor. The guide shows the buttons of the interface and what each does or represents. The guide also lets you know about the navigation of Spyware Doctor and how to use the Smart Update feature. If you need further assistance on Spyware Doctor you can use their Help option for more detailed information.

The main screen, or the interface, of Spyware Doctor is easy to understand and use. The simplicity is refreshing but also can leave you wanting more. I do enjoy all of the numbers and facts listed under System Status on the interface. For example, when the subscription expires or when your last scan was done. I like that it is very obvious as to whether your protection is on or off, too.

A really great thing about this program is that you are still able to run and operate other programs and such of your computer WHILE running the scan of Spyware Doctor. All too often your computer slows down drastically when a search or scan of this nature is being done. With some, you might as well start the scan and leave the computer until it finishes, but not with this particular program.

Don’t let the straightforward name fool you, Spyware Doctor does much more than watch out for simple spyware. This program uses IntelliGuard to immunize your computer against malicious ActiveX objects. Spyware Doctor will also rid tracking cookies, Trojans, dialers and keyloggers from your PC while IntelliGuard is in the active stage.

I have noted many great features of Spyware Doctor and overall I think it’s a great program to use. This program is not only something I now, personally use, but something I also recommend to any and all PC users. The value of your dollar goes so far when using Spyware Doctor to prevent horrible things from happening to your computer that it would be crazy not to be safe and get this program.

It seems pointless, to me, to keep a promotion secret until the last minute but….

This free offer will also include a one year subscription to updates, support, and services.

I recall that the last free offer from Check Point Software was extremely popular, so get there early and avoid getting caught in server overload.

Fast facts on ZoneAlarm Pro:

Powerful multi-layered security and protection

Operating System Firewall

Network Firewall

Program Firewall

Anti-Spyware, Identity Theft Protection

Simple to install (step-by-step installation wizard gets you up and running quickly)

Easy to use (color-coded guides and secure “out of the box” settings)

Triple Defense Firewall protects against hackers and spyware

Anti-Spyware scans for and removes spyware

SmartDefense service keeps your security updated with the latest Internet threat information

ID and Privacy Protection

Email Security which detects and quarantines malicious email attachments

Automatic Wireless Security which detects and secures wireless networks

(Click pic for larger)

System requirements: Windows XP, Me, 2000, 98SE

Go to: ZoneAlarm – at the time of writing, this is the most likely download page.
